Correspondence about the need for improvements to the rinkhouse

Jan 19, 2010

From: Sarah Cormier, rec staff
To Tino DiCastro, rec supervisor, ward 18

Hi Tino, The ideal electrical upgrade for our programming at Campbell Rink would be:

-an electrical outlet for a stove in the staff offfice -three fully functioning electrical outlets in the staff office each on a separate breaker (we need to be able to operate a hotplate, coffee pot, kettle, radio charging and fridge simultaneously) -an electrical outlet in the changeroom (again, on a separate breaker)

Thank you Sarah Cormier Rec Staff

>>>From: "Stephen Pakert" <spakert@toronto.ca>

Date: Tue, 09 Nov 2010 08:32:26 -0500 Subject: Minor Capital Wish List Good Morning All,

Please submit, at your earliest convenience, a 'minor capital wish list' for Tino and Andrew's files. This list should include any and all work under $50,000 you would like to occur in 2011 at all facilities, orphan sites, outdoor pools and AIRs. Items on this list can range from construction, installation, repair, overhauls and touch ups. List should be compiled in descending order of importance, from the most urgent to the least. Any items you feel are absolutely necessary should be demarcated as such.

Tino and Andrew will be presenting these requests early next week. If you have not submitted your wish list by then, your request will not be considered nor submitted for managerial and financial approval.

Thank you, Stephen Pakert

From: Jutta Mason
To: Braden, assistant to ward 18 councillor Ana Bailao
Subject: could you set up a rinks meeting?

Hi Braden,

There are about five more weeks left in the rink season. Ward 18 has a new rink maintenance supervisor -- Peter White --and that makes this the ideal time to address some of the issues while they're fresh.

Ice rink maintenance is better than it has been for some years, at all three rinks -- great! Garbage pick-up is being addressed. There's a bit of slippage this past week, though. There are some communication/collegiality improvements still on hold. And there's the unresolved puzzle of the electrical and plumbing upgrades for Campbell and Wallace. All of this would benefit from a face to face meeting among rink staff, supervisors, someone from the councillor's office, and a couple of CELOS people.

Could you let me know if that's possible, perhaps this Thursday or next Monday? I'd also like to tell about the April 16 citywide "Parks Summit," which has a remarkable speaker coming.

Jutta
